【Makeup】 My skin is a bit sensitive, so I am worried about whether Maiko makeup may ruin my skin.
If daily makeup does not affect your skin, Maiko makeup would not cause any problem. We have had customers who are atopic, but their skin has not been affected. However, the effects on the skin depend on the individual, so we are not able to make any clear comment on it.
【Makeup】 Do you have makeup tools such as facial cleanser, lotion and face cream?
We have remover, lotion, face cream, towel and tissues used for removing Maiko makeup. (Tissues, towel, dryers and brushes are also provided.)
【Katsura】 I have not decided yet whether I use Han-katsura or Zen-katsura. May I select the one when I am there at your place?
Of course, yes. If you are not sure which one is the best for, please ask our professional staff for more details.
【Kimono】 Can I choose Kimono I want to put on my own?
Sure, yes. Honten keeps about 200 pieces of Kimono and Sakuraten about 100 pieces, from which you can select what you wish to use. No additional fee is required for any one of Kimono.
【Makeup】 Is Maiko makeup removed easily?
Yes. The makeup can be easily removed by remover and face washing.
【Katsura】 What is Han-katsura (half wig)? Is there any major difference in appearance between Zen-katsura and Han-katsura?
Han-katsura is a half wig which covers the rear half of the head, and only the hair on the front half of the head is used for hairstyling. This would result in a more natural appearance than Zen-katsura. But your bangs must be long enough to cover the tip of nose. In addition to Han-katsura, we keep more than 50 pieces of Zen-katsura wigs so that customers can find the most fitting one.
【Katsura】 How long must my bangs be long in order to use Han-katsura? My hair has been dyed brown. Is this a problem when I use Han-katsura?
To wear Han-katsura, your bangs must be long enough to cover the tip of nose. If the color of your dyed hair is close to black, there is no problem in wearing Han-katsura. When the color is very different from black, black hair spray is used. (This hair spray does not damage the hair, and the fine particles produced by it can be easily washed off.)
【Kimono】 Does the price for a plan vary depending on Kimono I select?
No. The price is the same regardless of Kimono selected.
【Makeup】 I want to know if you provide a normal makeup service after my Maiko experience has been completed and before I leave the shop.
Yes. Our makeup artists will apply makeup to create the look you wish for the day. The fee for the makeup is 2,100 yen.
