 | Approximately 3,000,000 domestic and foreign tourists visit Kyoto in a year. Kyoto is full of tourist attractions, including Buddhist temples (such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Kinkaku-ji Temple, and Ryoan-ji Temple), Kyoto cuisines (Kyo-kaiseki, Shojin-ryori, Yudofu, etc.), scenery (colored leaves, cherry-blossom viewing, etc), and Japanese traditional plays (No and Kabuki). One of the popular sightseeing spots is Gion, where Maiko-san and Geiko-san are seen.
Since years ago, there have been services in Gion that allow tourists or general people to act as Maiko-san for hours or a day. However, this service needs a long time to complete and usually costs a high price, so it was difficult for tourists to try Maiko transformation easily with low pricing. "Maiko Transformation" Studio Shiki has been offering the Maiko experience service similar to that performed in Gion in the past, with much lower fee.
We are always paying special attentions to quality and pursuing good service and beauty. We believe that customers can fully satisfy the service of Maiko transformation through our efforts to enhance the beauty of our customers. Then the memory of the exciting Maiko experience, that is, the costumer who is in Kimono and with the Japanese hairstyle, will be taken picture by our professional cameraman. The photos will be provided to the customer in the form of an everlasting photo album.
Trough the word of mouth of our existing customers, we have more of them year by year. Last year, more than 20,000 people have visited us, comparing with about 1,000 customers 10 years ago.  | Honten, head shop, is located on Ninen-zaka Walk Ninen-zaka which leads to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Both Honten and Sakuraten are found in the area near Kodai-ji Temple and Yaskanoto, the most representative region for the old town Kyoto. |

 | A Japanese traditional wooden house of several ten years old was purchased for Honten 8 years ago. Honten was moved from Sannen-zaka to the current location, Ninen-zaka, and one year was spent to remodel the entire building for Maiko transformation services. All spaces and rooms allow customers to feel the hospitality and atmosphere of Kyoto. |
 | The land for Sakuraten was purchased last year, where a modern four-floor building was constructed. Customers can use a section or space on the fourth floor, where they enjoy unsurpassed panoramic views of Kyoto. With these superb views in the background, customers can take pictures with their own camera. |

| Makeup |

 | Makeup provided by Studio Shiki is really excellent. Our makeup staff members go on overseas training tours to Europe, US, and Southeast countries once a year to study various makeup techniques including for Maiko for the continuing purpose of pursuing beauty. In addition, Studio Shiki organizes in-house seminars several times a month to further improve staff's techniques for applying Maiko/Geiko-san makeup. |

| Kimono and Dressing |

 | Studio Shiki also runs dressing seminars several times a month, where professional Kimono fitters with many years of experience in getting Maiko/Geiko-san dressed instruct our staff on how to fix up Kimono. All Kimono clothing are procured from a long-established Kimono shop, Chigusaya, in Miromachi, Kyoto. A total of about 400 pieces of Kimono are always available for customers at each of Honten and Sakuraten. B |
